1. COPPER FALLS STATE PARK
Copper Falls State Park is a great place to hike your way through. There are over seven different popular trails worth hiking. We recommend taking the North Country Trail if you’re looking to do some long-distance hiking (multi-state.) You’ll encounter stunning scenery like heavy forest and large gorges. There is also a hike-in site to stay the night.
2. ROCK ISLAND STATE PARK
There are 40 backpack camping sites located within Rock Island State Park. The island itself is located off the Door County Peninsula on Lake Michigan. However, the only way to get to the island is via a passenger ferry. You’ll love all the attractions that they offer like the Pottawatomie Lighthouse. 3. KETTLE MORAINE STATE FOREST
Hike right into the Kettle Moraine State Forest on the National Ice Age Trail. While the park is a mecca for hiking, with over 57 miles of trails, you’ll love the cozy feel of their campground. Stop in anyone of their walk-in sites. You’ll love all the sights you’ll see hiking throughout the Kettle Moraine State Forest. You’ll encounter lush forests, woods, prairies, and lake. 4. FLAMBEAU RIVER STATE FOREST
While canoeing might be one of Flambeau River State Forest’s most favored activities—hiking is also loved by many visitors. Located in Northern Wisconsin, Flambeau River offers miles upon miles of hiking. Hike in and stay the night or weekend. You’ll love how much diversity this state park offers.
5. PATTISON STATE PARK
With 10 miles of hiking trails and three hike-in sites, Pattison is a great destination for the backpacker. Explorers will find some of the highest waterfalls in Wisconsin at Pattison State Park.
